The Mount Gambier Christmas Parade is a yearly family event run by enthusiastic volunteers that celebrates all things Christmas!
Each year, a huge Christmas tree, Santa Claus, floats, and music make this a great day out for the whole family!
Mount Gambier Christmas Parade 2024 Dates, Times & Location, SA
The AAM Timber Christmas Parade begins at 11am at Crouch Street North and travels west on Commercial Street to Vansittart Park.
Keep an eye out for some of the local favourites, including Christmas in Toy Town, Bill the Steam Shovel, Hansel & Gretel, The Christmas Tree, Christmas Stars, and, of course, the Christmas Stocking with Father Christmas at the end of the parade.
With thousands of people expected to line the streets for the event, it may be difficult for children to see past the crowds. All attendees are reminded to stay behind the blue safety line during the parade.
There is no participation cost; entries may vary from walking and marching performances to larger float displays. The award categories include:
– Most Outstanding Entry
– Best Christmas Theme
– Best School Entry
– Best Club or Community Organisation Entry
– Open Category
– Best Themed Band
– Encouragement Award
– Best Non-City Entry
– Best Brass Band
Following the parade, Father Christmas will attend the Rotary Club of Mount Gambier West’s Party in the Park event at the Cave Gardens/Thugi, which will feature live performances, food and drinks, and children’s entertainment.
This magical event comes to life with the incredible support of community members of all ages! It is managed by a community-based group and many volunteers, as well as many local community groups and schools create colourful and entertaining floats.
They compete for prizes judged on creativity and effort in building the most impressive floats. Judges score the floats in the various categories. The City of Mount Gambier holds a presentation night to award the winners a framed certificate and generous prize money.

Can you please confirm the date for the Christmas Parade in 2020.
Hi Kerry,
Unfortunately, event information for the parade really doesn’t come out until the months before the event is due to occur.
Since this year’s event is yet to occur, there looks to be no information released yet for next year’s event.
By memory, the 2018 and 2019 events were held on very similar dates, so it would be worth keeping that in mind for any plans and just checking back next year.
Thanks
Michael
